Rosebay

Holme Fen NNR is interesting at any time of year, but mid- to late-summer is the best time for many of the wetland plants which are just beginning to make an appearance, as was that characterisic species of disturbed, somewhat acid soils, Rosebay Willowherb. It was overcast for much of my walk, but the sun appeared as I was leaving, and this brought out more invertebrates including a Large Skipper butterfly and a warningly coloured but harmless Wasp Beetle, feeding on the flowers of Hogweed.
