Pond reflections

If May was the hottest and driest month on record, then June is possibly also making a record of having more storms than usual. After a pleasant morning we have had thunder with rain every afternoon this week.

I walked to Esher Common today where I took this photo of Black Pond, without birds skidding all over the water and dogs jumping in to swim the water was rather calm today so there were good reflections.

Gavin had a very long meeting all morning so after lunch he took a quick break and we popped into Cobham to return a click and collect John Lewis order to Waitrose. We then walked up and down the high street to see which shops have reopened - only a few is the answer, some have signs on their doors saying they will reopen next week, and some sadly have closed down permanently. Cafe Nero is open and was doing a brisk trade with coffees, yet Starbucks and Costa are still shut. We got a delicious take away coffee from an independent cafe which we drank as we walked along. Some shops have used the lockdown period to freshen up or renovate their shops. It will be interesting to see how many shops/cafes/restaurants have survived the lockdown.

I am hoping this image qualifies for WidWed, thanks to Sheelagh for hosting it.

Gavin’s mum is still weak but at least her temperature has come down. The doctor checked on her again today and they are doing their best to keep her hydrated.
