Brancaster Beach

It was a 5am start this morning to miss the traffic as Gavin and I drove up to Norfolk today. Gavin is interested in getting a second hand small sailing boat and there are not too many available of the the model he likes, so when this one in Norfolk came up he wanted to go see it. We had an easy journey, and I enjoyed seeing all the poppy fields in Norfolk as we don't seem to have any around us in Surrey.

When we got there we went straight to Brancaster beach to give Xena a good run on the beach. She loves chasing after the ball and bringing it back, which I don’t like her to do too much as I heard about a Vizsla that collapsed on the weekend after doing this as it got so much sand blocked in its intestine due to swallowing the sand coating the ball. Here is Xena having fun on the beach with the golf club house in the background. Another extra of Xena, and also an image of the beach huts which contrary to most other beach huts, are set amongst the grassy dunes and do not face the sea, but look on to the golf course instead.

We had a dry walk but soon after the walk it started raining. After picking up coffees from Thornham Deli we went to see the boat at an old boat yard. After that we went to Reepham as we had been invited to see someone’s home that has been a labour of love over many years, restoring an old 17th century farmhouse into the most magnificent home with enviable gardens, wow, it was unbelievably stunning and has unsurprisingly featured in various garden and home magazines.

We then drove home again - it was pouring with rain and at one point we were all stopped on the motorway while they cleared off the cars that had been involved in an accident. Despite that delay we got home in under 3 hours. It is now quite late after a long day.
