In the present moment !
Today has rumbled along peacefully. Spent some time with Arthur and saw both his parents too, usually just Jess. He is toddling around with growing confidence , inspecting all the stones and flowers in the garden . The stones went in the watering can making a delightful sound each time . He and Bramble are starting to make friends , Arthur has learnt how to let go so is able to give her a treat , as long as she sits nicely and gives paw when required .
We were back on our regular walk today , I’m not very satisfied with the photo but it’s difficult to take time over taking it with a dog in tow who wants to follow every scent sniffed.
In the distance, looking like a green hill, is Houghton Tower where William Shakespeare is reputed to have been employed as a tutor for the children of the noble family that once resided there.
In the foreground is piece of rock that caught our attention because it had green stripes of moss on the upper surface . We spent ages discussing whether the stripes were picking out bedding planes or cuts made by human hands . It’s how we pass our time . Closer inspection revealed bedding planes along another edge so we concluded that the mossy stripes were caused humans working on the stone , that of course led to more questions and so on . It probably makes us sound very boring but it’s a way of taking a rest from all the worries and concerns that fill the news and our heads .
Living in the present moment , easy to write / say a real challenge to achieve. We are getting better at managing it on our walks .
Nearly forgot , the highlight was watching a hare run past and then pausing to graze in full sight .Didn't get any pictures though .
