Stored energy?

Does anyone else find batteries are the bane of their lives. I used to have a point and shoot camera which had some kind of magic battery which never needed charging in the 3 years that I used it before discovering Blip. Now I have a bridge camera and the batteries last 2 or 3 days at the most. Admittedly I am taking many more photos. I constantly have my charger on!
