Duskies!

Lagenorhynchus obscurus, otherwise known as Dusky Dolphins.

Out on the Monarch we ran into a pod of over 200 Dusky Dolphins a few kilometers off the coast. These dolphins often congregate in large pods like this and are known for their acrobatics. We watched as the "herd" galloped through the waters with some doing impromptu backflips as if to show off.

They are found all around New Zealand waters, as well as other southern waters like Tasmania, Cape Horn and Patagonia. I've seen them out here, sometimes with Hector's Dolphins whom they associate with, but never in such a huge pod.

Epic!
