At last another sunny Cycling morning. I was only missing two categories from my list today a horse walker and a motorcyclist and I certainly don't want to see a mole.

I threw all my plans up in the air today and decided to paint the top garage. I'd bought the paint about three weeks ago so I had everything I needed including good weather. I'm beginning to realise that I'm no good at estimating how long things take to do as I thought I'd have this garage painted in a day but by the end of play it appeared that it may take three. After getting the cars out I had to remove all the stuff stacked in the rack and in the cupboards let alone all the junk stacked on the floor. Once this was done I removed the buffers. These are wooden beams fitted to the floor to stop the car hitting the wall. This is a necessity tas space is tight with only a couple of inches to spare from back to front. The garage is carpeted with horrible second hand carpet which I have decided to ditch and paint the floor in a medium grey which I ordered off eBay today. I then used the jet washer to clean the floor and the inside of the garage doors which were absolutely filthy. I must admit the last time I painted anything in the garage was at least twenty five years ago. Most of the paint peeled off the inside of the doors leaving the natural shiny aluminium finish which I decided to leave and not paint although I will repaint the supports and frame with grey etching primer which again I bought off eBay. The jet washing took far far longer than anticipated as the more I squirted at the doors the more paint that peeled off. When I finished I had to sweep gallons of water out of the garage as Bodger the man who rebuilt the house before selling it to us sloped the floor to the back of the garage not the front. Mind you that wasn't the only silly thing he did there were lots of others but hey ho he was a nice chap. I then had to wipe down the ceiling as the jet washing had flicked grease off the Runners of the automatic door over the ceiling and if I'd have painted over it with my nice white silk emulsion it would have ended up with grey streaks for sure. With this done and the clock ticking as the EU say I just had time to mask everything off ready for painting. So tomorrow after removing the radiator I can paint straight away tomorrow. My next problem was that all the stuff I'd taken out of the garage was stacked outside on the drive as I thought it would all be back inside come six o'clock. So I decided that I'd put the Austin Seven in the Motor House with the Bentley as there is just enough space to get them parked end to end. I then had to move all the stuff for a second time and put it in the Black garage which fortunately is just a few feet from the top garage so by knocking off time the job as they say was a good un. Fingers crossed for another sunny day tomorrow so that I can continue.
