Quite a day!
For the last 2 days, on my phone, I have getting a thunderstorm and flood alert warning for the Edinburgh area from 6 pm tonight. When the skies darkened at 2pm and the rain started, I was secretly delighted knowing that at least we would not be having another rave party on the Meadows for the 3rd night running. However, Sod’s Law came into play and now at 6pm it’s sunny and there are several people already camped on the wet grass. To make matters more farcical the only policemen I’ve seen in 3 days are strolling round the periphery of the park with nothing to do. I can wager that if the hordes arrive with their cans of beer, that police presence will disappear like ‘ snaw af a dyke’.
It’s been an exceptionally social day for me considering the last few weeks of semi isolation- a chat before breakfast with a neighbour I hardly see, a coffee visit from a young friend I got to know when His Lordship was ill , and in the afternoon another friend popped in for tea . In between there was a video call from Glasgow daughter. I may or may not have done a ‘Dominic Cummings’ with the restrictions but frankly they are so complicated and different from England, that I’ve lost track of what I am allowed to do. Suffice it to say, my social tankard overfloweth and my voice has never had so much exercise for ages.
My blip (accidental) illustrates the speedy delivery of cake to the doorstep of son#2 at sunrise this morning.
