Happy 225th birthday Sir Robert!

I was rather surprised today to see Sir Robert Peel's statue wearing something that looked rather official. He often sports less becoming things such as traffic cones. It seems that yesterday was his 225th birthday. There was a service in the parish church to commemorate it.

The plaque in the background reminds you that Sir Robert is not the only famous person associated with Tamworth. Thomas Guy, of Guy's hospital fame, was also MP for Tamworth.
