Industrial Dereliction

A couple of weeks ago I blipped a photo of a big hole that had been dug by Northern Gas Networks (or their contractors) ..  a second hole appeared and a much bigger fence so I couldn’t get near to see in any more.

Well today I went past it and the holes have been filled in and there are just low plastic barriers left around them. This rather large piece of pipe has been left on the ground nearby. Looks like some sort of valve. I was fascinated by the texture, the soil  and what appears to be tape wrapped around it! Looks like it was ready for replacement!
