Red-necked Footman
Again we ventured further then 5 miles to go for a walk, but in the process crossed paths with just two other people in the course of 2 hours. One of our regular fungi hotspots, it's all a bit early at the moment (here at least), but we stumbled across 100s of these guys - Red-necked Footman moths.
The name is apt, the wings forming a velvety long coat. I'd never seen them before, so it definitely made the trip worthwhile (the extra shows the yellow abdomen hiding underneath the wings).
