Across the sky
My choice of times to ride to work, and then home again meant that both ways the rain paused for almost the whole time I was riding. Typical Auckland winter weather. Absolutely bucketing down one minute and then the sun shines. Whoever controls the weather for Auckland suffers from manic depression (or bipolar disorder, call it what you will). I'm acutally very pleased that there has been so much rain in the last couple of weeks, as the storage lakes were very low for this time of the year.
The unit was full again this morning. Despite all the hard work the staff do, there's as much again or even more to do every day.
Over the weekend two Maori patients (one male and one female, both manic) were brought to hospital by Police in handcuffs. Bruising and skin damage as a result of restraint. Neither was violent. Thankfully, our Police do not routinely carry guns. The use of handcuffs will be an item on the agenda for the next liaison meeting with the regional Police command.
Took S to see the orthopaedic surgeon this afternoon, and he is impressed that she can bend her knee without too much difficulty to more than 90º. It makes a difference when its the surgeon who tells her that she is way ahead of most at three weeks post surgery, and she is not to be self critical if she has a quiet day with the exercises.
She's so much more confident than she was that I've taken her to her poetry group meeting. Will need to pick her up in about 45 minutes.
Too much to do at work, and then helping S this afternoon, has meant that a photo taken as i finished my ride to work is my blip. No time for a walk or a run. This photo shows colour from the rising sun bouncing off clouds to the west of where I was.
