More pink
On the 99th day of lockdown non essential shops were permitted to open in Scotland. Curious to see if there was any augmented activity I walked along Kilmarnock Road towards Shawlands. Other than the array of property solicitors and estate agents the place looked pretty much as it has done for the past few weeks. For the first time I noticed this lovely pink granite bridging across the White Cart Water beside the extravagantly named The Dapper Mongoose, a public house. Then I saw the different hues of pink on the wall and on the walls of the two tenement buildings. Fortuitously a train, empty of course, was passing, slowing down ready to stop at Pollokshaws East where I guess no one would get off, and no one would get on.
This the fourth day when there has been no deaths, and five new infections. A horribly fragile situation though.
Since it rained most of the day Pollok Park was almost deserted in the afternoon. The vegetables are coming on a treat and the courgette flowers looked magnificent so much so that I have included one specimen in my additional blip for the day. The river was as high as I have seen it since the winter. Too fast flowing for the ducks who were holed up on the riverbank, not taking much interest in the trees whose lower branches were being assertively washed and brushed by the water.
