K minus 14

Just 14 days to go until our kitchen project starts.  This photograph shows a piece of wall on which we have tested paint colours. The actual colours are subtle shades of grey.  I have processed the image to within an inch of its life, hoping for an arty effect. Rothko, anyone???

Paula Rego, the Portuguese born artist now living and working in the UK, would not have any truck with such daubing.  She is a highly accomplished figurative artist, as can be seen from The Artist in her Studio (1993.) Her work reflects the hard times she experienced growing-up in Portugal under its former dictator Salazar and often deals with feminist topics. Her image of an artist shows a strong, controlling character.
