You're Very Welcome...or Maybe Not
I had a day at home and in the garden today. Whilst I was weeding I noticed a few ladybirds on my hostas. We really need them this year, as quite a number of plants in my garden have been overrun with aphids.
I didn't realise that there are 47 different ladybird species in the UK and over 5,000 globally. Apparently, an adult ladybird can live for between 1 and 3 years. I don't know if this is a UK ladybird or one of the invasive Harlequin species, but it's very welcome to as many aphids as it can eat, although sad if it's a Harlequin as they destroy our native ladybirds.
I do think it has rather a characterful face!
