Tractor Tuesday...

The contractor in to plough the field we are going to sow with fodder rape/ stubble turnips. Last year it was a grass field so we sprayed it off with glyphosphate then drilled the seed directly into the turf.
This year we are ploughing it then it will be worked with the power harrow to make a seed bed. Then I will mix the seed in with the fertiliser and broadcast it on then roll to consolidate . Then fingers crossed it will all grow to provide valuable winter keep for the ewes.
The herds spent the afternoon bringing all the X ewes inside ready to shear tomorrow.. Something to look forward to !
