Ripe, cherry ripe
Who will buy this wonderful... Well I don't think actually they sold cherries in Oliver, they did sell strawberries though
I had a slot today at Craigie fruit farm. Due to the current situation you have to book a spot on advance and pay, £5 per person, which is deducted from what you pick. My heart sank this morning when I saw the weather but I set off anyway. I got straight in on arrival and to my delight found that they had started selling cherries, for the first time this year, just before I got there. I've said before that Craigie's cherries are the best I have ever tasted but they have a very short season. They have also opened up the blackcurrant bushes for picking too.
This little lot is less than an hours work and all but the currants were in the poly tunnel so apart from my feet I didn't get too wet. I've already made two batches of strawberry jam so I think we'll just enjoy eating these along with the raspberries. The black currants will become jelly and the cherries will magically disappear. I also got some fresh picked courgettes, some French beans and a cauliflower all picked this morning. Wonderful.
I was very cold when I finished , so enjoyed a coffee and bacon roll from the food van at Craigie, just what the doctor ordered.
No plans to do much else today so dropped off some fruit at K's then lazed around and read my book.
I can't believe it's July already. I've signed up to a just giving page to raise money for Sick Kids but walking every day in this month.
Keep well and safe everybody
