Bombus ruderarius

The Red shanked carder bee is one of our rarest bumblebees and we were lucky enough to see it today in a lovely woodland near Chippenham that Andrew and Katie took us to. It is a UK BAP species and only found in southern England with a small outpost in Scotland.
It is recognised by the fringe of red hairs on the legs so you need to get quite close!
