Take care

The caterpillar of the Cinnabar moth is one of the most common caterpillars. Most people will have seen them on Ragwort, often in large numbers.

But take care. Do not pick one up to put it in a better position to photograph. It is covered with hairs which are poisonous and can give you a nasty rash. They are also poisonous if eaten by dogs and cats.
