Wells-next-the-Sea

After an eventful start to the day, we're now relaxing in our AirBnB in Norfolk.  We left home just after 9am, and within minutes the car allerted us to the fact that the tyre pressure was low, so Alan checked it and we had a puncture!  We managed to drive to Kwik Fit in Newhaven, but they couldn't fit it in until 4pm!  As we couldn't wait until then, they pumped the tyre with air, and we drove to another garage nearby who fortunately had a tyre and squeezed us in.  We had to go for a walk while they did it, as we weren't allowed to wait due to Covid, and as it started raining quite heavily we ended up stood in a bandstand sheltering from the rain - what a start to our staycation!  Anyway, when we went back to pick up the car, they'd managed to repair it at a cost of £18 which was much better than the price of fitting a new tyre!  They're a garage we'll remember for the future!

So we were on our way, slightly later than planned, but are thankful it happened when it did and not when we were on the motorway.  However, that wasn't the end of the delays, we came across two accidents with Police controlling the traffic, diversions and numerous roads closed!

We'd planned to walk to Blakeney Point from Cley to see the seals, but by the time we got there it was nearly 3pm and it was a 4 mile walk to get to the seals, so we decided not to bother and drove to Wells-next-the-Sea instead.  What a wonderful surprise that was, with it's huge sandy beach, and colourful beach huts on stilts.  Not only that, but there's a woodland that leads up to the beach so we walked back through the woods and there was an amazing smell of pine!  Wells looks lovely, and we'll definitely go back before we head home.

We were impressed when we arrived at the cottage,  it's been completely updated and refreshed since we booked it, with a new kitchen, bathroom, flooring, walls ripped out and new furniture in the living room.  The owners are very Covid aware and have deep cleaned the cottage, and have left hand sanitiser and an antibac spray and we've had to complete a disclaimer in case we contract the virus.

Once unpacked we decided to get fish and chips for dinner, and found a chip shop in the local village that provides an online ordering facility so you can click and collect, and it was pretty good!

The forecast for tomorrow isn't very good, but it's so nice to be away, and I'm sure we'll find something to do.
