Hut-stanton
Ali is scoping the area around Hunstanton and the north Norfolk beaches for potentially spending more time here in the future. With this mission in mind, today we explored Brancaster where we did a long beach walk, idyllic even in light rain, followed by Ringstead a few miles inland where we sampled coffee and desserts at the gastro-pub.
To summarise our findings: there are certainly less desirable corners of the world than Norfolk. Hunstanton is so far an eclectic mix of stone cottages, arcades, coastal scenery, tidal flood warnings, huge gulls, grey and wild skies, ducks in gardens on housing estates, and radiators that we can’t switch off in our rental bungalow.
Our evening wasn’t very Hunstanton-like. I was grilling Ali on her experiences of working in the Democratic Republic of Congo, which was at the same time an entertaining, shocking and complex conversation.
