Bird restaurant is now open

These little goofballs seem pretty pleased to have something to eat again. For the past three days this feed tray has been full of water because of all the rain. Today the sun came out and dried up all the rain so I fed them. They seemed pleased.

The sun dried up the feed tray but it hasn’t dried up the fields. Apparently the water table is higher than it’s been for over twenty years around here. Our sump pump continues to run to move water from around our foundation, out to the back yard.

I’m hearing that the Canola crop is in jeopardy now with all the water. It’s lost 25% of its value and the farmers are encouraged not to invest any more resources into their canola. :( That’s hitting them hard. The wheat and peas are still ok but who knows. I’ve never seen so much standing water in the fields.
