First Bite of the Big Apple

The flatiron building brings back fond memories of the summer and of the area in which Justin and Ryan spend most of their time (as I envied their adventures from downtown TriBeCa #firstworldproblems). This building stands tall in one of my favorite parts of Manhattan. And now I too get to enjoy the perks of the flatiron district (even though I'm borderline in Murray Hill)!

Today was the first day of SUNY Buffalo Law School's New York City Program in Finance and Law. Reality still hasn't hit me. I knew I wanted to be in this program before my first day of my 1L year, and I still can't believe I'm here. This semester will certainly be jam packed with work, but when the works enjoyable it's hardly "work."

Our inagural speaker, so to say, was George Williams, of Counsel at Kaye Scholer LLP. Mr. Williams lectured us on the "Global Reach of U.S. Financial Regulations." To be completely honest, I was incredibly confused 90% of the time Mr. Williams was talking. The other 10% of the time I thought I knew what was going on, but was sadly mistaken... I guess the moral of the story today is that I have a lot to learn! Even though I was confused most of the time, I have hope that I will learn this stuff and be able to contribute to the in-class lectures and ask questions. After all, we have some amazing people coming in to lecture us! It would be a sin for me to not pick their brains and get some of my questions answered.

Aside from missing the beautiful Miami weather (and having some reminiscence of vacation fever from the best vacation ever), I am looking forward to this semester in NYC.
