God With Us
“Never will I leave you, never will I forsake you.”
- God
Reminders of God’s presence have been cropping up time and again today. In the verse for the day, the KXC livestream, songs selected by shuffle on Spotify, conversation with Nay, today’s Bible in one year reading, and in the living experience of it too.
I’m amazed that God chooses to be present with us. I don’t nearly as often choose to be present with Him.
Finished the chapter of my book: “Becoming friends with time: learning to live in the present moment.” So often I try to live my life in the future! But God never intended for us to live there - He gives us grace for the present moment.
Just like this story, quoted in the Bible in one year.
“Father sat down on the edge of the narrow bed. "Corrie," he began gently, "when you and I go to Amsterdam-when do I give you your ticket?"
I sniffed a few times, considering this.
"Why, just before we get on the train."
"Exactly. And our wise Father in heaven knows when we're going to need things, too. Don't run out ahead of Him, Corrie. When the time comes that some of us will have to die, you will look into your heart and find the strength you need - just in time.”
Gratefuls:
- Nay and Janoux coming round for church and brunch today - it was so lovely to see them again, and have a little sense of community!
- That God is real, and we have the freedom to believe in Him.
- That God meets with us.
- That He isn’t in a rush, but promises to finish what He has started.
- The beauty of water, and being so near a canal.
- The enjoyable small details of life, like nice fonts on food packaging!
