Chandlers farewell
Bridge Street, Truro, a notorious parking black spot. Langdons is closing at the end of February. The same family have worked from this site for four generations since the 1880s, first selling bicycles. then outboard engines and marine equipment dependent on the interests of the Langdon who was running it.
The present owner, Mark Langdon, is selling up. Internet sales and poor summers have seen the footfall in the shop reduce.
Next door, the one that is ajar, and always seems to be so, is the entrance to the Truro Mason's Lodge.
Notice the double yellow lines and loading restriction signs on the kerb. I had to wait for two cars and a truck to move off before taking this; folk down here don't take the rules that seriously, although two were nicked at the other end of town about 5 minutes later. I must also congratulate the professional trucky who exited the car park via the entrance, thereby confusing the hell out of the other road users, as Basil Fawlty would have said, "It's alright, he's from Newport!"
