Fountains Abbey
Mrs madwill and I had a fab day out walking today! We drove towards Ripon and stopped near the canal by the racecourse and walked along the towpath for quite a while. Amazing wild flowers and insects and a nice sunny day too.
We drove a bit further towards town and stopped at the canal head for sandwich and coffee for lunch.
Then through Ripon to a garden centre - compost and a few plants bought there. Then we went on to Fountains Abbey as we had booked entry tickets for 1 p.m. - we are members of National Trust so it didn’t cost anything. We then did a complete circuit of the the abbey and Studley Royal - including a hike up to the top walkway! Cup of tea and an ice cream and then back half way round the grounds and out into the deer park for a wander and out via St. Mary’s church - extra.
26K steps walked for me (including 3K for Finlay’s walk this morning!
Chilled beers in the fridge….
