Cora Knows Best
I almost missed my coffee meeting with my Chew & Chat buddy Tom. I went for a mid-morning nap and forgot to set the alarm. We'd arranged to meet at 3:00 pm, I only woke at 2:40 because my phone alerted me to an incoming message which I read, then glanced at some unread emails too before suddenly realising that I was running late. Fortunately traffic was light and I didn't have far to go.
Our first-choice option doesn't open in the afternoon, which turned out to be just as well because that meant we resorted to Plan B which is a little café round the corner from Tom's street. It's called Cora Knows Best and it's a great spot. The girl who served us was utterly charming, we had really gorgeous toasted sandwiches (Tom went for the Seán Special, I had the Ricardo's), coffee for Tom and hot chocolate for me. More important than the food and drink was the chat, of course. Tom was just back from a few days in Tralee and gave a full report , while I updated him on Tuesday's meal with Carl.
We spent about an hour and a half together and will meet again on the 30th when the three of us have our first restaurant meal since Covid-19 arrived on the scene. On my way home I was stopped at traffic lights when I spotted a guy practising his camouflage technique, dressing to match the wall behind him (extra — a quick snap through the windscreen).
