Birthday walk
Today was the birthday walk for Peter and Alistair. It turns out that Kate has her birthday on Thursday, so we celebrated that as well.
We did a short circular from the Boatside Inn and Warden. We had two groups of six, walking in opposite directions. We did meet on the fort on top of Warden Hill and had socially distanced treats whilst enjoying the view and each other's company.
The weather was perfect because we could see for miles in all directions.
On our way down, we came to Quality Cottages. There are four delightful houses beside the railway line. At the back of one are the two sheds that caught my attention as we took the path past them.
Behind another one there are several amusing signs, including "Don't even think of parking here"!!
We visited the church in Low Warden and rather enjoyed the graves in the church yard. There are three with metal hoops over them. I guessed this was to prevent body snatchers and I was correct. They belonged to a rector and his wife and baby who died at different times.
We returned to the Boatside Inn. There were quite a few people but it was possible to secure 4 tables to spread ourselves around for our libation and more chatter.
Happy Birthday to Peter, Alistair and Kate.
