The 'Best Drive in New Zealand'
Or so said a German motorcyclist we chatted to on this spot who has lived in New Zealand for 23 years and it is hard to argue with him.
We left Lake Tepako after breakfast and drove through Mackenzie country to Lake Pukaki and this wonderful view of Aoraki/Mount Cook.
We stopped in several places to photograph this surreal view but, on this occasion, I was glad of the Chinese tourists adding a splash of colour here at the picnic table.
Mount Cook is the highest mountain in New Zealand ( and maybe Australasia?) and as our German friend said we were very lucky to see it without the top being covered in cloud.
We are indeed very lucky and are now in Queenstown with a balcony view of Lake Wakatipu as the sun starts to go down.
Tomorrow we are on an overnight cruise to Milford Sound so may have to back blip on our return here on Saturday.
