Hiding in the open
We see Eastern Water Dragons back home in Batemans Bay now and again, but none as bold as this chap who joined us as an equal on the deck of our cabin at Lane Cove River Tourist Park. Clearly, he was accustomed to visitors giving him titbits, but he was unlucky with us; we followed the National Park guidelines and sent him off to forage for himself. That's when he reverted to type. As I poked my camera at him, he scuttled off the deck and "hid" on the fence below. He kept one rotating eye on me, but sat there confident I could no longer see him. He was still there, unmoving, when 10 minutes later I went indoors.
