There and back again

Fishponds Bottom

Down under Lamberts Castle lays the tiny village of Fishponds Bottom. It is named after a fishpond which was built there by a group of monks a long time ago but can still be seen and is now managed by the National Trust

As you can see the view is rather blighted by the large pylons which carry the National Grid power lines from their sub station near by. A few years ago a local lady was campaigning to have the cables put underground because of the strong magnetic field they gave off She used to demonstrate this by standing under them and holding up a florescence tube which would light up.

It is a delightful area and has a lovely little church with views down the valley to Charmouth and the sea.
