A Gannet
A trip to Newark Air Museum today, our first "day out" for months. We have visited before, but it's 'memory lane' for B seeing many of the aircraft that he worked on and for me seeing the later planes. There was lots of "do you remember when..."!!
I've blipped this Gannet which according to the notice (in extras) was at Lossiemouth when we were there from 1973 onwards. The Fleet Air Arm flew these and used to do late evening circuits to practice for landing on an aircraft carrier. We could see and hear them when trying to go to sleep.......I didn't really mind.
Amber came with us and enjoyed sniffing about the grass, after the rabbits and other animals that visit at night. She was a bit put out by one of the police dogs in the hanger :0)
They are expecting a new aircraft in November and when they allow some exhibits to be opened to visitors we are going back. I want to sit in the cockpit of a Jaguar!!!
We felt very safe, it's well organised, which is to be expected. They have only been reopened for a couple of weeks and need the visitors to be financially sound.
We called in past Whisby Garden Centre on the way home, looking for vegetable plants, something to follow the spuds in the blue box, but they didn't have any. I should have thought this through earlier, but didn't.
