Sallow clearwing
I swept this little clearwing moth while at Iping yesterday, but it wouldn't keep still so I had to take it home to get a photograph.
At first I thought it was ca currant clearwing, but on closer inspection I am pretty certain it is a Sallow clearwing Synanthedon flaviventris , a species only discovered in Britain in 1926, which can be locally common in central and southern England.
Grateful today for - a second chance to photograph this beauty.
