Life in Sunny Dubai

There's a small list of jobs to do outside mounting up that need to be done in the morning so we finally bit the bullet and ventured out before 11. It is very hot outside! Fortunately, Dubai Mall had everything we needed, so we headed there. First stop was the Bank which very annoyingly is closed until further notice. Only the ATM's are working, but I needed a teller. Oh well.

We looked for blenders with glass jars in the electronics stores, had a Caribou Coffee after AGES, then decided to visit M&S but on the way there, got distracted by the newly opened 3,000 bay car park that has been built across the road.

It's not just a car park; there are some entertainment things like go-carts, shops, a new French chain supermarket (Grandiose) and the Darth Vader and Storm Troopers display has been moved to the link which connects the two buildings. You get to walk over the highway too, so I'll have to go back to get some decent pics on a clearer day.

We actually managed to get to another branch of the bank before it shut, so mission accomplished where that is concerned. Home for a quick bite and to chill before we headed out again.

The first stop was to the tinting business where I was a couple of weeks ago. The film on two windows needs to be looked at again, and it was done while we waited. We then drove over to Dubai Hills - a new development in the middle of nowhere the desert where our friends Peter and Rachel live.

As it is still being developed, the road system isn't completed yet and the Google lady gave us a grand tour before I used my instincts to get where we needed to be. P&R's front room has a fantastic view of the surrounding area but it was a. very dusty and b. dark by the time we got there, so I missed the chance to get a picture.

We were going to watch the movie Yesterday but as we got there later than expected, we've had to take a rain check as Peter wanted to watch the ManU/West Ham match. We watched the Liverpool/Chelsea match after that! We also had a good chat about loads of different things and we got fed and watered. No-one noticed the time and we couldn't believe it was nearly 1 am. Thankfully, the curfew is over, so we weren't breaking any laws.
