Painted Lady

While we were away our two successful chrysalides hatched and two beautiful painted lady butterflies have emerged.

They have been sipping the nectar (both in the dish and from the flowers we’ve put in with them) and flitting about.

It’s quite amazing to watch their mouth/tongue (proboscis) uncurl from under their head to drink.

It’s going to be warmer and sunnier tomorrow so it might be release day.
