After yesterday's torrential rain I've spent part of today trying to rescue the sweet peas, cutting all the flowering stems that had been battered down and tying in the top growth. Most varieties are still flowering well but I've the White Frills has noticeably shortened stems so its coming of my list for the future. In fact I've already decided to have a change next year. I wont be growing any Spencer type sweet peas (for the first time in about 40 years) and will instead just grow either Old Fashioned or Grandiflora varieties. Final decision when the seed catalogue arrives next month..
