A study in white
Either I have another Flower Crab Spider (Misumena vatia) on the sweet peas or the one I photographed catching a hoverfly has re-appeared. The two previous images are here and here. I like this one because it illustrates how well disguised the spider is and how its comparatively long front legs give it that crab-like appearance. You can also see the tiny spines that run along the leading edge of the front legs. It is also known as the White death spider.
