…I did that pruning?
Not really that long ago, I had a massive prune. 
When we first kicked off with the Pond we bought a Lily more suited to a "Lake" than our Pond.
When we were down holidaying in Norfolk, for instance, we met, and visited, a couple who had sold up in London and moved.  Their London Terrace netted sufficient to buy a "small", only four bedrooms, mansion C/W pond as big as our back garden and pay a deposit on their son's house.  The big Lily would have sat well in that "Lake".
