Waiting for a train
A day trip to London to go and collect my things. The building I worked in is being closed and we could go in for a few hours to collect our things. I was able to travel after 9am and had thought that would help the train situation. When I arrived at the station it was obvious it was not busy at all. My blip is the platform two minutes before the train was due. See extra for a photo on the train.
The train had some issues and was delayed. The issue was with sheep on the line and the driver had to herd them back up the line so they could get off. As we went around a corner I could see several sheep running in front of the train. It took 15 minutes of slow train travel but the driver did get them back up the line and they were gone. Sheep herding with a train, very impressive. It seems this does happen from time to time but it was a new one to me!
In London I met up with my manager and we had some lunch, social distancing of course. Lunch was nice, we went to the Ivy Brasserie at Tower Bridge. The whole area was not busy and we had a lovely lunch watching the river and world having a catch up.
Into the office, it took a while to sort out my stuff. Quite a few things went in the bin and the rest got packed up to come home with me. The office was just as it had been left back in March, quite odd really.
A farewell look back at the building and London as it was time to head home on the train. I got the train just after 4pm and again not at all busy. We got home without any delays or incidents.
We have been told that we will stay working at home until 2021. With my contract due to end in December I might never go back to the office with my colleagues. Quite an odd thought really.
