Lazuli Bunting

I tried out a new "open space" in town this morning that was mentioned in our local paper as a place to see Lazuli Buntings. No sooner had I set foot on the path from the parking lot, I did indeed see one (see extras). It was far away and backlit, but I was so excited to have had my first ever glimpse of this beautiful bird. 
Since this was my first time at the park, I promptly got off track and took a much longer and steeper loop than I had planned. About an hour later I was back at the beginning and caught another glimpse of this colorful male in better lighting (main shot).
