Down dog
Islay who has come for the evening does not seem her usual self, to the extent that she has barely touched her tea. She enjoyed helping to load the dishwasher and was initially keen to go for a walk but now she hovering by the front door anxious for Lorne and Magnus to return. We cut short our evening walk through the park and she was very happy to go home choosing the shortest route I noticed.
Our routine today was happily broken by Lorne arriving to use the shower around 7.30 this morning – their boiler has packed up and is due to be replaced on Sunday. And then this afternoon Frank the curtain fitter erected the curtains I had ordered about 3 weeks ago. Very pleased indeed with the colour, we have been advised not to unfurl them for at least 48 hours so that the hang in the right way with pleats just so.
A trip to Silverburn to collect my walking jacket felt quite exciting – it was fairly busy especially the stores like Clarks selling children’s wear. The FM has confirmed that schools will re-open on a fulltime basis (with no social distancing for the pupils) around 11 August. Clearly this is excellent news for all concerned and means that the hills will hopefully be less busy. This news was followed a couple of hours later by Jackson Carslaw announcing his resignation. This is probably not great news for the SNP, and perhaps paves the way for Douglas Ross (MP for Moray) to work his way up this doomed party, in Scotland anyway.
My mind continues to be on the pursuit of the WHW and I bought the official guide in Waterstones today.
Late dog update, Magnus arrived to collect at Islay and she ate a tin of tuna with gusto. I think her diet could be more varied.
