the little mermaid

Going  through the toys which Sarah and I sorted out last week...I remember her playing with this Ariel doll. We lived in California and Disney seemed to have a big sway over children's choices. Although Sarah was never very keen on baby dolls, she did amass quite a few Barbies and mermaids while we lived in the US. Maybe Sarah liked Ariel because she spent so much time in the water (and still does) but role models come and go; the grown up Sarah would never lightly trade in  her voice and swimming ability. Ariel is leaving the building.
