kombucha day
Friday is the day when I bottle my kombucha and make the next batch. I started out with a 1 litre jar and a single scoby..now I have 4 scobys (and have given 2 away), a 3 litre and a 5 litre jar. D gave me the 5 litre one on my birthday. The swing top bottles are a second fermentation with fruit (raspberry in two, nectarine and blueberry in the other two). They make a lovely fizzy fruity drink. The 1 litre jar is now a "scoby hotel" with spare scobys and starter. Useful if a batch gets spoiled or a friend wants to try making kombucha.
It was also "Fire Friday", a tradition which we are continuing even without Luke. D made the fire (see extra) and we had a competition to see who could make the highest stone pillar (second extra) while the fire burned to embers. Of course, after we had eaten, we dismantled the fire and the pillars and left no traces.
As soon as we reached home, the rain came - rather unexpected after a hot day.
