Winter Commute

The morning commute and the Pentland Hills look stunning, their dark figures dappled with white snow. On my way home, a blue sky mottled with white clouds, the woodland silhouetted against the light. Hints of cheer amidst an otherwise cold landscape worn brown and yellow by the winter weather. The roads and cars crusted in salt and mud.

A relief to get home and have a chilli hot choc to warm up (a contradiction in terms?!). Longing for warmer brighter weather to wake up the sleeping landscape.
