Pleasingly, Musselburgh does not charge citizens to stand in public places and observe fireworks, also sensibly having them pop at around half-seven in the evening, leaving plenty of time to get children home and in bed before the cacophany of bangs, dogs barking, foghorns blaring and live 'music' rattling away until a quarter past midnight.
