Life in Sunny Dubai

Catch-up

We haven't ventured far today. We were supposed to go to the East Coast, but realistically, a day at home catching up on stuff was much needed. So, G worked at her desk getting content ready for the Fun Club email which goes out on a Thursday, and I spent time catching up on work that I needed (too many individual little things to list here). I also tidied up my Inbox; something that needed to be done for ages.

That's pretty much the day. They do fly. Oh. I did a personality test online and the result was eerily accurate!

My blip is of our lovely garden that we get to enjoy, but don't have to do any work towards. :))

PS. I had a missed call from our cleaner today. I called him back to find out what's happening. He seemed to indicate that he might be back by the middle of the month. I have to admit to having the feeling of life returning to normal! Now that we've had to clean the balconies, I have even more appreciation for what he does.

PPS. If you don't know what a missed call is - it's when someone calls you and lets the phone ring once so their number registers on your phone. They then disconnect and wait for you to call them... so you pay for the call!! Luckily, I have free minutes, even to India.

PPPS. A few blippers (like DesertCamel) have been recording the Coronavirus story of where they are for future reference. I think it's a great idea, so after ages, read the stats online. The UAE had some encouraging figures to report. These facts are taken from our local newspaper.

"The UAE reported 164 new coronavirus cases on Monday, its lowest daily total since April 1. Officials confirmed a further 248 patients had beaten the virus as the recovery tally climbed to 54,863. No patients died for the third consecutive day, as the death toll in the Emirates remained at 351.

The latest infections were identified after an additional 27,811 tests were carried out. The number of coronavirus cases nationwide now stands at 61,163. The UAE has conducted close to 5.2 million Covid-19 tests since the outbreak began.

Abdulrahman Al Owais, Minister of Health and Prevention, said during a media briefing on Monday that the country's patient recovery rate of 90 per cent is the best in the world. He called on members of the public to continue to act responsibly to support front line health workers leading the UAE's ongoing fight against the pandemic."
