Gate

Another day, another stretch of canal.

This morning we drove to Ossett. At Healey we took the Canal and walked to Dewsbury and back, then had lunch in 'The Brewer's Pride'.

Many locks on that stretch and many gates. I now take an interest in them because I know where they are made [See earlier blip].

Each gate made at Stanley Ferry is badged with the year, now I need to ask one of the guys at the workshop how long they are expected to last.

This is the bottom lock at the 'Figure of Three Locks' where the Calder and Hebble is very close to the river Calder. The lock keepers cottage is between the two.
