Portland - Olympic Rings
Today we went to Portland and Weymouth. This is a monument to the fact that the sailing for the 2012 Olympic Games was held in Portland/ Weymouth. A lovely view looking down on Portland. The sailing area is to the right in the bay. . On the left is Chelsie Beach which stretches for miles to the west.
just out of sight to the right are 7 big cruise liners which are moored in the bay. All 3 Cunard ships - Queen Elizabeth, Queen Mary and Queen Victoria are there, interestingly they look quite small in comparison to a couple of the huge P & O liners.
We also had a lovely lunch in the Crab House Cafe, lovely sea food. They also grow their own oysters just outside the restaurant.
Very overcast in the morning but not by the time we got to Portland. We also visited Kimmeridge and found the coastguard cottages my husbands relations lived in.
Weymouth beach was very very crowded and little evidence of social distancing as we drove along the seafront. May be worse tomorrow as good weather forecast for the weekend.
