Flying-leap

Out and about.....

....in the city with blipper JMK by my side.

A freezing wind was blowing, my eyes and nose were dripping while by the sea at New Brighton, the sun peeked out between the clouds for a wee while.

You can imagine a hot bowl of Kumera, Coconut and Coriander soup went down at treat at the Sign of the Takahe, now a cafe and bar.

The Sign of the Takahe was built between 1918 and 1948 in the style of an English Manor house. Built from stone from the local Port Hills, it was one of four roadhouses that was planned by Henry George Ell as part of his scheme to preserve the natural state of the Port Hills which overlook Christchurch and Lyttelton harbour. It is named after the flightless native New Zealand bird, the Takahe.

Once we were warmed up we enjoyed a drive along the Summit road of the Port Hills where we could see the city below on one side and Lyttelton harbour on the other side, our view was a bit hazy due to mist and cloud.

We had a lovely time catching up, thanks J, already looking forward to next time :)

Happy Friday everyone :)
