Wahoo!
Another great day! Erik Lindauer, partner at Sullivan & Cromwell, came in and spoke with us about the "Building Blocks of Corporate Agreements." And wow, he was great! We talked a lot about the LIBOR manipulation scandals (if that's what we want to call them) and then moved on to talking about commercial contracts. Mr. Lindauer went into great detail on the five objectives of contract drafting are: (1) performance and enforceability, (2) precision, (3) clarity, (4) consistency, and (5) elegance. My favorite quote from Mr. Lindauer was, "you don't go to law school to fill out forms, paralegals fill out forms; it's your job to understand the forms." He also said, "if you have responsibility of a contract, you better have an understanding of what it means -- you'll sleep better at night."
We have our conference call tomorrow with David Franasiak, so that should be fun. I've never had a conference call before so I'm partly excited and partly nervous about it. We met with Prof. Halpern after class so hopefully we're well prepared for the call!
After class I met up with my mom for lunch. Per Ryan's suggestion, we got fish tacos at Wahoo's! They were quite delicious! I can't wait to go back. I have to bring Justin here because he is always looking for a good fish taco. ;)
